DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (HPD) — Qatar will lift most of its coronavirus restrictions starting Nov. 1, just before hosting the soccer World Cup.

The Qatari Health Ministry made the announcement on Wednesday, saying in a statement that people arriving by plane to the country would no longer need a negative PCR result or rapid antigen test.

It also lifted the requirement to register with the Ehteraz contact tracing app. However, it is mandatory to use the app to access medical facilities in Qatar.

The World Cup begins on November 20 with a match between Qatar and Ecuador.

The emirate expects to receive 1.2 million visitors during the tournament.
