One dead, eight injured in shooting in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (HPD) — One person was killed and eight were wounded in a shooting in a parking lot in Florida’s capital Tallahassee, authorities said.

The incident occurred Saturday night in the parking lot of a liquor store and restaurant, police said.

Police then shot one of the three suspects and took him into custody.

Police received reports of the incident and upon arrival saw a man shooting into a crowd and running towards a fast food restaurant. They followed him and shot him at least three times, Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said at a news conference Sunday morning.

The suspect was not seriously ill and was taken into custody, Revell said.

“Cops responded to this intense shooting just as it was happening,” Revell said. “They were doing first aid in the parking lot as the shooting was going on, dozens and dozens of shots.”

There was a heavy police presence Saturday night due to a Florida A&M University event and a Florida State football game.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the shooting.
