Myanmar Army Airstrikes Kill Dozens

BANGKOK (HPD) — Myanmar military airstrikes have killed more than 60 people attending an anniversary celebration for the main political organization of the Kachin ethnic minority, members of the group and a rescuer said Monday.

The attack came three days before Southeast Asian foreign ministers are due to hold a special meeting in Indonesia to discuss escalating violence in Myanmar.

Sunday night’s attack on the Kachin Independence Organization celebration in the northern state of Kachin appeared to be the harshest since the military seized power in February last year from the elected government of Aung San Suu. Kyi.
