Microsoft reports bugs in Outlook, Teams and other services

LONDON (HPD) — Microsoft was investigating problems Wednesday with its online services, such as its Teams messaging platform and Outlook email system, after users around the world reported outages.

The company reported a “service degradation” for several of its Microsoft 365 services.

Thousands of users reported problems Wednesday morning using Teams, Outlook, the Azure cloud computing service and the XBox Live online gaming service on the Downdetector website, which monitors reports of outages. The number of reports had dropped considerably later in the morning.

Many users took to social media to complain about access problems.

“We continue to monitor recovery across all services and some customers are reporting mitigation,” Microsoft 365 Status tweeted. “We are also connecting the service to additional infrastructure to speed up the recovery process.”

The firm later tweeted that a network change suspected to be the source of the problem had been withdrawn, and that it was monitoring the effect of the move.

Microsoft said the day before that its quarterly profit had fallen 12%, a reflection of the economic uncertainty that the company said prompted its decision to lay off 10,000 workers this month.
