Backpack with gasoline catches fire by stun gun

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas, USA (HPD) — An Arkansas motorcyclist carrying a backpack full of gasoline was burned when he was engulfed in flames after a state trooper used a stun gun on him at a traffic stop, authorities said.

The Oct. 13 incident was caught on police patrol camera and video provided to the Associated Press by Arkansas State Police on Thursday.

The video shows a police officer trying to stop a motorcycle ridden by Christopher Gaylor, 38, because there was no license plate visible on the motorcycle. Gaylor refuses to stop and a high-speed chase begins until Gaylor jumps off his motorcycle in a North Little Rock residential neighborhood, state police said.

A second police officer used a stun gun on Gaylor and flames immediately erupted. State police said they later learned that Gaylor had a gallon of gasoline in his backpack.

The video shows officers extinguishing the flames and providing medical care to Gaylor, who remains hospitalized but is expected to recover, authorities said.

Gaylor faces charges of fleeing, failing to register a vehicle, failing to carry insurance, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.
