ANKARA (HPD) — At least seven people were killed and 18 injured Monday when a bus crashed into two trucks in eastern Turkey, authorities said.
The incident occurred on a road near the town of Tutak, in Agri province, which borders Iran and Armenia. Authorities are investigating the incident, the Anadolu news agency reported.
Local television showed images of dense columns of black smoke emanating from the area.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the deaths while giving a speech at a ceremony to inaugurate projects in rural areas.
“Unfortunately, seven of our citizens perished as a result of a bus overturning fire in Tutak. May God have mercy on them”, expressed the ruler.
The Agri governorate indicated that 18 people were hospitalized and that two of them are in serious condition.
